BABE RUTH SOFTBALL

The following rules and procedures will be used for ALL interlocking games in District 5.

1) No new inning will start after 1 hour and 30 minutes.

2) The Current Southeast Regional Babe Ruth Softball 8U Tournament Rules number 1 through 14 will be used for 8U interlocking games.

3) In the 10U division, there will be a 6 run rule per at bat. The play in which the sixth run is scored will be played until completion thus making it possible to score as many as 9 runs in an inning if the bases were loaded when the play began.

 4) Regular Babe Ruth Softball 10 and 15 run rules are in effect.

5) In the 10U division, stealing will be allowed. The runner will be permitted to leave her base upon the release of the pitch. The stationing of an adult behind the catcher to retrieve passed balls will not be permitted.

6) There will be a minimum of 2 ½ hours notice of cancellation due to weather for the umpires.

7) There will be a minimum 24 hour notice to cancel a game for any other reason.

8) If a team fails to cancel and does not show up at the scheduled game time, the team’s league will be responsible for all umpire fees.

9) Any league failing to pay these fees by June 1 will not be able to field a tournament team in that age division.

10) There be NO gate fees for regular season interlocking games.

 11) Protest Procedures:

Notify the UIC that you are playing under protest and have the official scorekeeper note all details concerning the play in the scorebook (outs, runner’s positions and other facts to assist in describing what occurred). The protesting manager will be required to file the protest, in writing, with as many details as possible, with his/her League President by 7pm the following day. A $25.00 protest fee will accompany the protest in the form of a certified check made payable to ENC District 5. The ENC District 5 Commissioner will convene a protest committee if needed to include the District UIC and available District League Presidents. All rulings by the committee are final. If the protest is upheld, the fee will be refunded. The fee will be deposited in the District fund if the protest is denied. No protest will be considered if this procedure is not followed. Protests can only be made for use of an ineligible player or misapplication of the rules. Under no circumstances will a protest be considered regarding an umpire’s judgment.
